In 1994, British management consultant John Elkington coined the phrase ātriple bottom lineā to describe the idea of considering not just a financial gain in business, but also a corporationās level of commitment to improving peopleās lives and the planet as a whole. Dr. Trish Petakās Introduction to Business class received a first-hand course on those ideas this week, when it donated nearly 400 items to Catholic Charities in Salina.Ā
The class donated items such as toiletries, paper towels and numerous other small materials to the charitable organization located just blocks from the Ā鶹¾«Ę· campus. The items will benefit families in need throughout the community.
āWe were thrilled to be able to make this donation,ā said Dr. Petak. āIn both business and life, itās important to be a valuable part of your community. Ā鶹¾«Ę· accomplishes that in many ways, and hopefully, this encourages these students to do the same in their future endeavors.ā Ā Ā
