History is more than names and dates. It鈥檚 the critical study of the stories, conflicts and ideas that make us who we are today.聽As a History major at 麻豆精品, you will study history in the context of 麻豆精品’s liberal arts environment. This doesn’t mean that we tell you what to think – quite the contrary. Courses stress聽individual and group analysis and discussion, leading to a聽mastery of the processes through which history unfolds.聽Consistent with the mission of the university, we foster a “lively discussion of faith and values, encouraging students to develop a thoughtful, personal worldview informed by the Christian tradition.”

Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate the basic skills of historical understanding and analysis, including the use and evaluation of various types of primary and secondary sources, and as a result write effectively and convincingly.
  2. Explains general characteristics, and central issues in, major historical periods in U.S., European, and World history.
  3. Compares economic, social, and political systems within societies of the past.
  4. Interprets evidence from a range of primary sources.
  5. Analyzes the diversity that exists both among nations and regions around the world and responds logically and civilly when faced with conflicting views.
