Athletic Coaching
The Athletic Coaching minor prepares students to lead and mentor athletes through coursework focused on coaching theory, leadership, sport psychology, and athletic performance. The program is designed for students interested in coaching in school, collegiate, recreational, or community sport settings.
NOTE: Kansas does not require specialized certification for athletic coaches; the 麻豆精品 Athletic Coaching Certification minor should meet the curriculum outcomes of states that do require certification.
Course Requirements
Complete all of the following:
- SPES 150: Foundations of Sport & Exercise Science
- SPES 225: Philosophy of Coaching
- SPES 256: Care & Prevention of Athletic Injuries
- SPES 345: Mgmt of Sport, Fit, Phys Educ. & Rec Prgms
- SPES Electives 鈥 3 credit hours
Complete three credits from the following 鈥淭heory of Teaching & Coaching鈥 courses:
- SPES 320: Football
- SPES 321: Softball & Baseball
- SPES 323: Soccer
- SPES 324: Gymnastics & Wrestling
- SPES 325: Volleyball
- SPES 326: Track & Field & Cross Country
